Dr Grordbort’s Invaders

In 2019 we released Dr. Grordbort’s Invaders - the flagship game for Magic Leap’s revolutionary augmented reality headset  - the Magic LeapOne.

Having never made games before, I helped form Wētā Workshop’s NZ game studio in partnership with Magic Leap to create a cinematic sci-fi game experience while the boffins back in Florida forged the arcane technology to bring our vision to life.

Starring the voices of Stephen Fry, Rhys Darby and Lucy Lawless, this game was critically acclaimed as a leading light in this emerging medium - in which a digital game can co-exist and interact with our own physical world. Dr. G Invaders was nominated for several awards including those from the Visual Effects Society and DICE, and was followed by Dr. Grordbort’s Boosters.
